Shell Technician 1 (10:00AM)
Location: Clackamas County This course includes basic installation methods, application techniques and methodology for the installation of various weatherization materials. This course will focus on demonstration and hands-on application with one full day in the classroom and three days of installations on actual job sites; including site-built and manufactured homes. Weatherization training includes lecture material on building science, home energy principles and construction technology, as well as lab exercises on high density wall insulation and insulation blower maintenance and operation. In this class you learn to install attic, wall and floor insulation, window and door replacement, basic blower door operations, and duct sealing on both site-built and manufactured (mobile) homes. This class will spend one full day in the field on mobile home weatherization including insulated roof cap (EPDM) installation and belly retrofit. Students will be given a written exam and must pass with a score of 75 percent or better. Students will also need to pass 100 percent of basic field installation requirements while demonstrating competency in all areas under the supervision of a field exam proctor.
