Participants will become familiar with gas appliance components and operational characteristics with the goal in mind being competent inspection and testing. Worst Case draft and CO testing are featured in this course. HVAC duct leakage topics include how duct leaks can impact occupant safety, building durability, HVAC system performance, and energy consumption. Participants will learn how to use diagnostic tools such as the blower door, duct blaster, combustion analyzer and flow meter. They will learn to use a combustion analyzer to test combustion appliances to assure proper operation and efficiency. Participants will learn to use a digital manometer to measure appliance draft, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) depressurization, and room-to-room pressure imbalances. They will also get hands-on experience and learn how to do a daily safety test-out procedure. Other topics covered are the fundamentals of air exchange, the influence of air sealing on indoor air quality, combustion appliances, and relative humidity levels. Hands-on work in the lab is heavily included in this session. This course will also cover CO health effects, CO alarms, how CO is produced, and proper inspection, testing and mitigation techniques. This training is also designed for the auditors and technicians who may be performing inspections or will be making the safety and efficiency repairs. Specific approaches and appropriate materials are introduced and demonstrated. A major goal of the course is to show how to utilize pressure differentials to improve the speed and effectiveness of their work. Successful completion of EA-1 is a required pre-requisites to attend Diagnostic Technician Training. REAP certification exams fees are included.

Attendance Policy
All portions of training MUST be attended and late arrivals are not allowed, nor accommodated. Missed portions of trainings are subject to make-up time at participant's expense. Petitions to this policy must be submitted in writing and are considered on a case-by-case basis. OTI reserves the right to ensure a safe and positive training environment and therefore may exclude or dismiss anyone who chooses not to follow staff directives.
Cancellation Policy
Rights Reserved The Oregon Training Institute (OTI) reserves the right to make changes to programs, agendas, and logistics of any event, conference, training or workshop. OTI also reserves the right to cancel any event, conference, training or workshop. Registrants will receive a full refund upon such cancellations.

Refunds Full refunds, minus fees, will be granted for cancellations made 21 calendar days prior to the event, conference, training or workshop. Cancellations received after this deadline will not be refunded. All cancellations made with less than 21 days' notice are subject to a $200.00 administrative fee or 25% of class price, which ever is larger.

Liability Liability is limited to refunds of registration fees only.

Transferability Registrations may be transferable from one participant to another within an organization. Transfer of a registration payment from one event to another is not allowed.

Exceptions Circumstances beyond control of individuals will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Special requests must be submitted in writing and sent to the OTI at training@WarmandSafeNow.com.
