WAP Health and Safety Training
Designed for those entering the weatherization field and visiting homes, our 6-hour online Health and Safety/Mold and Moisture training covers problems that affect occupant health and provides guidelines to keep employees safe in client homes. This course is an excellent precursor to the Healthy Homes Evaluator (HHE) course.

Full Course Description
​
This Health and Safety training is required for all new Oregon WAP employees and meets the requirements for Health and Safety Training as outlined by the Oregon US DOE State Plan.

This training will address hazards in the home including, but not limited to:

Lead based paint

Asbestos containing materials (ACMs)

Combustion appliances
-
Pest infestation
-
Biological growth
-
Mold and Moisture
-
Ventilation
-
Path Homes
The training will address strategies to handle hazards to ensure the safety of the occupant and staff who visit client homes. We will discuss WAP mandatory documents for the client and homeowner including Renovate Right and A Citizen’s Guide to Radon. It also includes suggested resources for client health and safety education.

Specific health and safety concerns such as mold and moisture, lead-based paint, pest infestation, asbestos, and combustion appliances, that affect occupant health.

Mandatory documents for the client and homeowner including permission requirements.

Information regarding deferral notices.
