REA Diagnostic Technician
This course is designed for auditors and technicians who may perform inspections or will be making safety and efficiency repairs. Participants attending this 40 training will gain skills and knowledge that will prepare them for inspection and testing of operational characteristics and gas appliances found in Stick Built and Manufactured homes.
Topics covered in this course include:

HVAC Duct leakage and how leaks can impact safety, building durability, HVAC system performance and energy consumption.

How to use diagnostic tools such as a blower door, duct blaster, combustion analyzer and flow meter.

How to test combustion appliances to assure proper operation and efficiency using a combustion analyzer.

The proper use of digital monometer to measure appliance draft, combustion applicant zone (CAZ) depressurization and room-to-room pressure imbalances.

Daily Safety Test-Out procedures.

Fundamentals of Air Exchange

Influence of Air Sealing on Indoor Air Quality

Relative Humidity levels
Training will be provided in the classroom using lecture, activities, and discussion. The laboratory portion of the training will provide hands-on experience to specific approaches and appropriate materials and tools. Participants will leave this training with an understanding of how to utilize pressure differentials to improve the speed and effectiveness of their work.

Recommended Prerequisite: It is highly recommended that the trainee complete the REA Energy Analyst, REA Installer Stick Built and REA Installer Mobile Home classes prior to taking this course.

Physical Requirements: Sit and stand for long periods of time. Able to access and inspect attics and crawls spaces.
